President's Message from Brett Lieberman

Dear MSPCA Members,

I hope your summer and busy season are off to a strong start. This is one of the busiest and hottest times of year for all of us, so please make sure you and your teams are taking care of yourselves and staying hydrated.

July 1 marks the start of the new MSPCA membership year. Please make sure your membership is renewed. You should have received renewal information for both the Maryland State Pest Control Association (MSPCA) and the National Pest Management Association. If you have questions or need help, please email info@marylandpest.org or call 410-940-6581.

The past year has been an active and successful one for MSPCA. More than 1,000 members and non-members attended our training events. The largest of these was the Interstate Pest Management Conference, but hundreds more took part in Business Building Blocks, WDI-O recertification, Western Maryland recertification, Legislative Day, and the recent Last Chance Recertification Seminar.

Speaking of recertification, please do not forget to renew your licenses. July 1 is also the renewal deadline for Maryland pest business and applicator licenses. If you have questions or run into any issues while renewing your certification with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, please let us know. We are happy to help point you in the right direction, and MDA staff always make themselves accessible when issues arise.

As we begin a new membership year, MSPCA is already planning more training and networking opportunities for you and your team. We are also continuing our advocacy work at the state and federal levels. Led by our SPAR, Charles Barton, MSPCA is working to make sure Maryland’s pest management professionals have a voice with lawmakers and regulators.

That work is stronger when more members are involved. I encourage you to take part, whether that means attending Legislative Day, visiting Annapolis, reaching out to your local delegate, writing a letter, joining a committee, or simply showing up at events and staying connected.

Your participation matters. MSPCA grows because members like you support the association, attend programs, speak up, and help guide the work ahead.
